Save me from myself // Before I hurt somebody else

I am an awful, awful, horrible person. Shit. This is not good. I deserve to be punished. Because of my stupidity and utter selfishness, someone sweet, innocent and undeserving will undoubtedly get hurt. And all I can do now is try to prevent them from feeling any more pain than is necessary.

Who do I think I am????

Can you say "racism?"

I don't know if that's it or not, but I am very displeased by the Academy for SNUBBING my FAVORITE MOVIE IN A LONG, LONG TIME from the Best Picture Oscar. Dreamgirls absolutely rocked my socks. No one I know who has seen it didn't leave the theatre breathtaken with it. From now on, I shall call them 'the Academy OF SUCK'. It did get 8 other nominations, and of course the lovely and amazingly talented (both in acting and SANGING) J-Hud got a nom for Best Supporting Actress. But it WON the Golden Globe for Best Comedy/Musical. How can it not even get a nom???

Possible reasons for the blatant snub include:
--racism
--appeals mostly to women, and the Academy OF SUCK is 2/3 male
--people may have been put off by the extreme Oscar push DreamWorks made, even before the movie came out
--the movie was led by its supporting cast
--too many people liked it, not enough loved it.
--many voted for the underdogs, the smaller, well-like movies (i.e. Little Miss Sunshine, which Dreamgirls BEAT in the GGs--don't get me wrong, I loved LMS, but Dreamgirls moreso.)
--umm...the Academy OF SUCK is stupid. I have ALWAYS found that I agreed much more with the Golden Globes (i.e. Brokeback Mountain)

Whatever it was (probably a mix of more than a few), I am greatly disappointed. It takes alot for me to rave about a movie. I may be easily impressed, but not easily enthused. There is a difference.

Also, I will never turn down a viewing of Dreamgirls, so if ANYONE wants to see it, I would love to accompany you. Let me know!

Oh, I've always wanted to see the Emerald City!

Break has been pretty amazing so far!

Christmas was nice, pretty chill. Got more stuff I need as opposed to what I want, but I guess thats fine, cuz obviously I needed it, right? A printer, a nice sweatshirt, some clothes. Not bad, had a nice day.

Went to NYC twice in two days. SO FUN! The 27th I went with my amazing cousin, Lauren. We had quite the interesting experience on the Chinatown Express!!! Basically, she was asked by a creepy, smelly Asian man who works in a nail salon if she wanted a sugar daddy and he proceeded to fondle her leg. yea, she was NOT amused. But we walked around, had lunch and ICE SKATED IN ROCKEFELLER CENTER. It was fantabulous. Such good times. Then, I went the next day with Drew and his fam to see RENT on Broadway. It was pretty awesome, and we had a good time, tho we got hit on by a creepy man at the bar in Red Lobster IN FRONT OF HIS PARENTS...WHO JUST LAUGHED!!! aaaaaaaaahhhh, it was weird.

My cousins from Florida came up for the week around New Years, and it was awesome to see them. The baby was ADORABLE...tho i guess not really a baby anymore, as he is 2 and a half. but still! hes just starting to talk and its so cute. We went ice skating, saw Dreamgirls (again...haha), and had many a nice dinner.

New Years was AWESOME. went to Imogen's house and drank myself into oblivion. Should have expected that when the "water" I poured into my Margarita turned out to be Coconut Rum. Prob 2 tequila shots and 3 rum shots. add a Rum & Coke, and 3-4 tequila shots, and baby, i was set. actually ended up passing out on the couch for a few hours. got home at 5:30 am and my uncle was just getting up. he thought it was amusing.

Hung out with Peter, Drew and two of Peter's friends at Peter's house, and ended up staying til FIVE AM! We didn't even drink or watch movies! We played cards! It was so much fun though!!!

Yesterday, my aunt and I went into NYC (trip #3 this break!) TO SEE WICKED!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH it was SO DAMN GOOD. OH MAN. I had a really good time. The leads were really good! Ana Gasteyer (from SNL) was Elphaba, and she was really good. The Glinda was effing hilarious though! It was awesome. and my aunt, who had never seen a Broadway show, RAVED about it. She wanted to stay and see it again, haha! yes for yet another Wicked convert!

Overall, it has been quite the break. I am actually really enjoying being at home. I miss school people though. ESPECIALLY MY MOHO. I start work tomorrow...haha, a bit late, but whatevs.

KK, gotta shower now.

Song I Am Obsessed With Now:
"And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," by Jennifer Hudson or Jennifer Holliday...either one is amazing
